For every edition, London Art Fair collaborates with a different organisation to provide space in the Capital to showcase a significant regional collection. For our 2019 Fair, we are delighted to welcome Towner Art Gallery, our Museum Partner for 2019.
For the 2019 edition, London Art Fair has partnered with Eastbourne's Towner Art Gallery to present The Living Collection, an exhibition that celebrates the gallery's rich heritage of collecting, exhibiting and championing contemporary art for almost a century.
Towner's exhibition at London Art Fair 2019 will showcase a selection of works that are significant to the history of the gallery and its collection, and will look at the way it has been shaped by its dedicated and innovative curators, who have sought to promote and support the most significant living artists of their time. As the gallery moves towards its centenary in 2023, the collection will play an important role in interpreting the last hundred years of regional history and be used as a catalyst to talk about the future.
Demonstrating the strength of the Towner Collection as an active, evolving body of contemporary art, the exhibition will feature modern and contemporary works by Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden, John Nash, William Nicholson, Duncan Grant, William Gear, Gertrude Hermes, Tirzah Garwood, and Wolfgang Tillmans.
This selection will not only highlight the role of Sussex as 'The Artists' County', a place of inspiration which has nurtured artists and makers, but will also champion key figures from its history that promoted radical thinking and inspired social change throughout the twentieth century.
To celebrate their exhibition at London Art Fair 2019, Towner is commissioning a new wallpaper artwork responding to the collection, which will form the backdrop of the Towner's display at the Fair.

Katrine Levin Galleries - Stand P30
Katrine Levin Galleries showcases and promotes exceptional contemporary artists from places less explored
The current focus is on Southwest China and Georgia. Some of the artists are mid-career and others are established in their own countries. The artists' cultural backgrounds provide a fascinating subcontext and perspective while the contemporary visual language creates a common bond.
Katrine believes that artwork brought into the home defines us and influences our mood – it is the first thing we see in the morning and the last thing we see at night. This belief fosters a preference for artworks that both engage the mind and nurture the soul.
The works span figurative to abstract, raw emotion to symbolic storytelling. Diverse in style, all of the artists pursue art for art's sake. The focus is on unique works that elevate and engage through an inner spark that we call talent.
The Cynthia Corbett Gallery - Stand 5
The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, an international contemporary art gallery, represents emerging and newly established contemporary artists and is a regular exhibitor at major international contemporary art fairs. The gallery has an annual exhibition programme in London and New York, as well as collaborations with galleries worldwide. The gallery also works with a number of mid-career American, British and European artists whose works have been published and acquired by International museums and institutions.
In 2009 the gallery launched The Young Masters Art Prize which is unique not-for profit competition, open to international and UK-based artists, the prize aims to give an international platform to both emerging and established artists. The Prize was founded by American Gallerist Cynthia Corbett and launched as a prize to celebrate artistic skill and innovation with awareness of the Old Masters and the art of the past.
Brocket Gallery - Stand P3
Brocket Gallery represents a select number of cutting-edge early career artists with a particular focus on process-led techniques. Our portfolio provides the skeleton of our bold and exciting curatorial programme.
The exhibition space in Kennington allows Brocket to provide a platform for early to mid-career artists and a base to invite our clients to view work. Used regularly for workshops and events.
Brocket regularly take over further spaces for pop-up style event and exhibitions, site specific installations and as part of our touring programme.

The real story: mainly he just follows Tristan and Tillie around Turner Reservoir, posting photos on Instagram.
Talk: The future is written!
The evolution of design on digital platforms is being driven in many ways by the oldest element of graphic design: type. Since most of the web is words, it’s fitting that the greatest advances to design on the web and in apps are centered around typography. Not only can we implement many of the most tried and true typographic techniques but the technology of fonts themselves has evolved to make not just the design responsive to screen size and user context, but the type itself can be as well. Variable fonts, in addition to letting us make use of the whole design space of a typeface (width, weight, slant, etc) but can also give us ways to react to user context when coupled with other advances in web technology. Screen size and quality, ambient light, user preferences, even reacting over time. We’re only just beginning to explore how we can shape the interaction between reader and text or user’s environment and the presentation of the content. We’ll look at how much of this works live in a web browser during the presentation, with links to sample pages and code, and guides on how to make use of the new features. It’s a really exciting time to help shape what comes next.

Africa in 2019: Prospects & Forecasts
Tuesday 29 January, London, 18:30 - 20:00, Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS.
Followed by a networking reception.
2019 is set to be another eventful and unpredictable year in Africa. Politically, all eyes will be on the general elections in Nigeria and South Africa. But several other countries are also set to hold crucial votes, including Tunisia, Senegal, Algeria and Botswana. How will these play out? What issues are citizens most concerned about today? And what effect could increasingly influential social media platforms – and potentially the spread of fake news – have on the elections?
Economically, growth in Africa is predicted to rise to 4.1% in 2019. But how will the benefits of this growth realised by citizens across the continent? Will negotiations over the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) continue apace? And will governments be able to create enough jobs and keep down the cost of living? How will people respond where they cannot?
Culturally, what does Africa have in store for the coming year? The continent’s creatives – and young creatives in particular – continue to inspire a boom in film, music, art and tech worldwide. But what will be the new themes and challenges that dominate in 2019?
To kick off the exciting and uncertain year, our panel – with expertise across politics, activism, the arts, education, technology, health and the economy – will attempt to answer these questions and many more.
Join us for the Royal African Society’s flagship events in London and Edinburgh, delivered in partnership with the British Council, to discuss and debate what 2019 holds in store for the continent.

A workshop taking place in a small gallery in East London, in a friendly and relaxed environment where we will meditate, create some art and have fun. These classes are an innovative way of combining art and wellbeing, spirituality and creativity, as we believe they complement each other and one helps the other. You will explore a new way of creating art being connected to your deeper Self; at the same time, you will explore how mindfulness can improve your life, balance your emotions and enhance your creativity. You won't find another class like this!
Using a series of exercises taken from art (drawing, painting etc.) and mindfulness (meditation, visualisation etc.), we will explore our creativity, the knowledge of ourselves, our minds and spirit, pushing the boundaries of what we believe we can do and achieve, becoming more in tune with ourselves, our creativity and the world around us. Join us for an evening of fun, relaxation and art!
Usually each class will be composed of 3 parts: a meditation/mindfulness exercise, followed by some art making (usually drawing from still life or portraiture), ending with a relaxing meditation. The idea underlying this workshop is art as exploration of the Self, and mindfulness/spirituality as a booster of our creativity and general wellbeing.
For any question, do not hesitate to contact me.
Our website: www.artfulnesslondon.co.uk
What can I bring into the event?
Basic art materials are provided, usually white paper and charcoal, but you can always bring your own such as drawing pads and papers of different sizes or thicknesses, charcoal and pastels of different colours etc., if you want to experiment with different things and explore your personal taste/creativity.
If you prefer meditating laying on the floor, it‘s a good idea if you bring a yoga mat as we don’t have any at the gallery.
I have never meditated before and I'm not very good at drawing either, is that a problem?
Absolutely not a problem at all. This workshop is suited for any ability and first timers are very welcomed, and so are people that have practised for many years too. The idea behind this workshop is to integrate mindfulness and art making to improve our life. You don't need any prior knowledge, all you need to do is to follow my voice during meditations and let yourself go and enjoy it. Anybody can do it and mindfulness is now even taught to children as its benefits are proven. Likewise, it is a false myth that some people can't draw, everybody can draw, if you can doodle you can draw too. This is not an art class and nobody is judged for its art making, we use art and drawing as a tool to explore ourselves and as a complement to our mindfulness exercises. It is a great way to explore what you can do and let yourself go completely and have fun.
Why meditation with art? Shouldn't be one or the other?
It's a good question. We believe that every thing is connected and our feelings and emotions have a deep importance and effect on ourselves and our physical bodies. These classes are a good way to let yourself go, to embrace and understand better your emotions, to relax and connect to your creativity and ultimately to enjoy yourself. Creativity is very important, regardless the nature of your job or your hobbies; every thing we do is connected with and can be improved by our creativity, including our lives. At the same time, knowing yourself better, calming your mind and emotions and being in peace with yourself can definitely improve your life. This series of workshops is a new way of using art and mindfulness as tools for our wellbeing. We strongly believe that actually meditation and art really work well together and can be extremely helpful to improve our life.

Pocket Gamer Connects – THE Global Mobile Games Industry Conference
NOW INCORPORATING PC & BLOCKCHAIN GAMER CONNECTS!
Leading mobile gaming industry conference, Pocket Gamer Connects, returns to London in 2019 - biggerer, betterer than ever. More than 2,500 delegates will gather at The Brewery for the two days on January 21-22 to hear from 250 of the world’s leading authorities from the mobile gaming industry. Filling 16 wall-to-wall conference tracks across both days, they will share their expert insight on everything from monetisation to the latest development trends.
One Ticket, Three Conferences
An exciting addition for this year is our shiny new dedicated blockchain games event. Blockchain technology has the potential to truly revolutionise the games industry, whether through the creation of a whole new category of Dapps, enabling secondary markets for in-game digital assets, creating new models for rewarding players, or the 101 other uses that are currently being conceived.
There are incredible opportunities and big rewards on offer, but there’s no shortage of issues to navigate, pitfalls to avoid, and trends to stay abreast of in these very early days. Which is precisely why we're producing Blockchain Gamer Connects – access to which is included in all PG Connects London tickets (and vice versa).
The games industry is about to change for good. Get ahead of the game with our new dedicated conference.
And returning for its second year is PC Connects, albeit in fully revamped mode. Find out why 2019 will be the 'PC revolution' – and why everything you know is wrong. Detailing how and why the PC games industry will change significantly and forever are 50 speakers representing every corner of the ecosystem, who will educate and inspire through an agenda set to cover trends, marketing, publishing, development knowhow, and strategies to thrive in this evolving sector.
New conference tracks for 2019 keep our audience at the cutting edge of the industry, including live ops, hypercasual & instant messenger games, AI, future tech, influencer marketing and blockchain gaming, as well as company culture and brand new track, Connects X, which incorporates XR, Switch and cross platform gaming. Of course, the seminar schedule still includes classic topics such as market overviews, industry trends, indie development, and case studies.
We’ve also added an all-new dedicated workshop space and 'mentor lounge' to help you acquire or develop industry related skills that will help grow your career or business, while our 'PG Journalist Bar' will offer on tap expert feedback on your game by our resident editorial team.
Networking For All
As ever, the conference schedule will be packed with our trademark short, sharp seminars. With no time to waffle, our speakers get straight down to business - which is what you’ll be able to do too, networking with some 2,500 industry professionals.
The event is called Connects because that’s what we help you do; connect with the whole gaming industry, from students and indie studios to the media, international investors and publishers. Unlike other event organisers, we offer our Pitch & Match meeting scheduler free to all delegates, so you can find that perfect contact and arrange to meet them in person.
No other event puts you in touch with the entire mobile gaming industry like our Connects conferences.
Pairing Developers With Publishers And Investors
Our SpeedMatch sessions pair developers in rapid succession with a series of publishers and investors in a series of speed-dating style meetings. These short, sharp encounters enable first contact for you to follow up with a longer meeting if you find a potential partner. It’s a shop window for devs to display their wares and a pipeline of prospects for anyone looking to sign up-and-coming talent.
Meet The Media
We welcome regional and international specialist media to our events so that your work reaches the widest audience possible. With our own publishing powerhouse behind us, you are guaranteed that our industry journalists will be onsite for demos, interviews and other ways to raise awareness of your brand or project to the online community outside the walls of the event.
If you’re looking for feedback on a project, stop by our Journalist Bar for a free consultation from professional games journalists.
All About The Indies
Indie devs are the lifeblood of the mobile games industry and Pocket Gamer Connects champions their work to our international audience. The showfloor has a dedicated Big Indie Zone for known names and newcomers alike to display their talent to an industry audience. This is a vibrant and varied expo area for publishers looking to sign promising titles.
And of course, our hugely popular Big Indie Pitches will be back in force with indie devs competing to impress a panel of expert judges. The winners walk away with armfuls of prizes and online marketing worth thousands of dollars.
Established International Audience
More than 15,000 industry professionals have attended the Connects international conference series since 2014. Since then, the roadshow has landed in the UK, North America, Canada, Finland, and India with a genuinely international client base; on average, delegates from more than 45 countries attend each event.
In 2016, we became the biggest dedicated mobile games industry conference series in Europe and have stayed on top ever since. Every event has been bigger and better than the last - and London continues to storm ahead year-on-year.
Not only have our previous delegates voted Connects the 'best value conference', but 97% would recommend it to a colleague and 96% tell us they’ll come back for more.
Previous speakers and delegates from all the key industry players include Supercell, King, Space Ape Games, Niantic, SYBO, Tencent, Telltale, Apple, Rovio, Disney, Wargaming, Kabam, NetEase, NTT Docomo, Ubisoft, Facebook, Google, Square Enix, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Sega, Capcom, Unity, Twitter, Snapchat, Twitch and many, many, many more.
