Driving inclusive design at your companySo you know how to make your app accessible. You've been to the talks, read the articles, brushed up on the docs and learned all the APIs so now you're finally ready. What's next? I've shared a lot over the last few years about designing for inclusivity and how, as mobile developers, we can add better support for specific groups of users in our apps. One of the questions that I invariably get asked is "how do I get the rest of my team and company onboard?" Last year, I started working at a fast-paced, rapidly growing startup in the UK. I was really overwhelmed, and I had a hard-enough time getting through my day-to-day work that I felt guilty that I couldn't give the requisite time to make sure my output was accessible. Something had to change and it did. This is a story about what we did to drive inclusive design at our company, and how you can do the same.Speaker: Ataul Munim, Android Developer & GDEAndroid at Monzo, Google Developer Expert for Android. Terrible memory, excellent movie watcher, fantasises about being a musician, and terrible memory.------------------Talk two: Learning to speak at Babylon Voice design is a discipline based on the most fundamental communication element - voice interaction. In order to create the best possible user experience, designers need to unpack how users intuitively communicate through speaking and find a way to access those conversations. In this talk, Babylon Health's voice and conversational designer Steven will share his design and user research experience. This includes analyzing daily conversations and the various testing methods that allow him to validate the naturalness of the conversational flows users interact with. Speaker: Steven Chang Steven is a creative problem solver with experience leading design projects in both start-up and large corporate environments across technology, music and advertising industries in multiple countries. He is passionate about innovating services and putting it into practice for solving complex challenges and aligning with real human needs. As a voice designer and conversational UI designer for Babylon Health, he is responsible for making Babylon more accessible by bringing it to the world of voice UI. https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevenchang897/ Talk three: Design without analytics Great product design often relies on great data. However, what do you do when you don’t have any data to begin with? In this talk, Liam will talk about three ways in which you can gain quick data to inform better product design decisions Speaker: Liam Carter-Hawkins Liam is a Product Designer for Babylon Health. Here, he works on Healthcheck, an assessment that provides you with lifestyle advice for preventing future illness. Previously, he designed web and mobile apps for startups, SMEs and large enterprise clients. https://www.linkedin.com/in/liam-carter-hawkins-8b351533/ ------------------Open Mic SessionWe open the floor to you, the London UI UX design community.
